Teaching Language for Specific Purposes: The Case of  Medical Spanish

Language for specific purpose (LSP) courses are those that incorporate both linguistic and content area knowledge that is specific to a particular context based on the needs of learners. This presentation will show important aspects to consider in the design and  development of LSP curriculum. Teaching techniques and approaches to LSP will be discussed. Furthermore, this session will present concrete examples of instructional materials, activities, and assessment practices from a Medical Spanish course, as well as recommendations to incorporate and adapt them to other kinds of LSP courses.
